Graduation & Prize Giving 2018
Spectrum College held its Annual Graduation & Awards for the academic year 2017/2018 at the Nawaloka Banquet and Auditorium on 28 September 2018 at 4.00 pm. His Excellency Muhammad Zaeri Amirani – Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka and His Excellency Al Sheik Jumah Hamdhan Al Hassen Al Shehhi graced the event as joint Chief Guests. The Guest of Honour of the event was Dr. Alan Robertson – Dean of Studies, Nawaloka College. Ms. Ajantha – teacher of Museus College and Mr. Faizal – teacher of Zahira College were the special invitees of the event.
Students of Grades 3,4 & 5 along with the grade 8 girls presented the welcome song accompanied by a welcome dance by the students of Grade 2. Boys of Grades 4,5,6,7 & 8 performed a Jaw Dropping dancing performance for a medley of Persian Pop Songs. Kids of our elementary section – Montessori, KG and Pre Grade students entertained the audience with a dancing item which made the whole event colourful.
One of the Chief guests His Excellency Amirani made an inspiring speech on how unity, brotherhood and caring for ones neighbours. The Guest of Honour Dr. Alan Robertson also delivered a speech targeting the graduating senior students on how to build a strong future for themselves.
Students who completed the elementary school who are promoted to the Primary were graduated by the His Excellencies the Ambassador of Iran and the Ambassador of Oman followed by the graduation of students who completed the International Advanced Level. Ms. Judy Deighton and Ms. Ajantha graduated the students who completed primary and promoted to the secondary school. Dr. Alan and Mr Faizal distributed the prizes for all prize winners. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL SPECTRUMITES WHO WON PRIZES AND AWARDS AND TO THE GRADUATES!!!!!!
Maldives Day 2018
Maldives Day 2018 was celebrated on 3 September at School Gardens. All nationalities of Spectrum College including the Maldivian students presented various performance exhibiting Maldives’ culture. Ms. Maryam Shazna who is the school’s Dhivehi teacher co-ordinated the event.
Australian Kids Comedian Sean Murphy was at Spectrum College
World famous kids’ comedian from Australia Sean Murphy performed at Spectrum College on 15 May 2018. The show was held at the Spectrum College auditorium and the audience included the students of elementary, junior and senior schools, teachers as well as the parents.
The hilarious comedian kept the audience entertained and laughing throughout the show. It was a thrilling experience for the kids and the parents found that it was worth spending their time with such a talented comedian who flew all the way from Australia to perform for our kids.
The highlight of the day was the cultural exchange program organized by the students of Spectrum College. The students challenged Sean to learn and involve in games that are specific to our beautiful island, Sri Lanka.
There were three traditional games organized by the students including Kana Mutti – breaking the pot blindfolded, eating bun with hands tied and finding the coin hidden on a plate covered with flour. Sean actively took part in all three games and enjoyed learning how to play and the rules of the games from our own kids at Spectrum College.
Although Sean Murphy is an extremely talented comedian, he is a very down to earth, simple and a great human being! The management, teachers, parents and the students of Spectrum College a Very Big Thank You to Sean Murphy for visiting our school and performing for us!
Inter-House Sports Meet 2018
Spectrum College Boys’ School held its Inter-House Sports Meet for the academic year 2017/2018 on 15 February 2018 at the S.D.S. Jayasinghe Grounds, Dehiwala.
The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Mrs. Y. Mariyadas – the Colombo Zonal In-Service Advisor – Sports. At 1.00pm the sports meet started with the hoisting of flags by the guests and the officials. The National Flag of Sri Lanka was hoisted by the Chief Guest herself whilst the Chairman Dr. M. Sharfraz Azad hoisted the School Flag. Mr. Niroz – Sports Coordinator hoisted the Sports/Olympic flag. The house Mistresses Ms. Nisha, Ms. Dawson and Ms. Sudar hoisted the respective house flags of Amethyst, Emerald and Topaz Houses.
Field events such as Shot-Putt, Discus Throw, Javelin and Inter House Football, Cricket and Badminton tournaments were held prior to this.
Parents and the well wishers of Spectrumites witnessed true sportsmanship from every single participant throughout the day. All the athletes proved that they are loyal to their respective houses by giving a tough competition to their opponents. Although the day was full of track events such as the flat races and relays, there were also some colourful as well as a variety of events were also held by each classes from the Nursery kids up to the senior school. The most exciting of all the events for the day, especially for the students was the staff relay. Two male staff and two female staff from each house participated in the closely contested staff relay which was won by the Topaz house teachers. Ms. Nabilah of Emerald house gave a very good start with a bullet speed but unfortunately their third participant Mr. Rizmi couldn’t keep up with the speed of his opponents. Many who witnessed the staff relay this day will not forget for the next many years to come, the terrific performance by highly enthusiastic and sporty Ms. Dawson. Most spectators were praying God for the safety of Ms. Sudar who was running parallel and just besides Ms. Dawson.
The athletes of Alethea International School were placed first in the invitee schools’ relay whilst the athletes of Hejaaz International School placed second.








A display of Karate was performed by the students of grades 2,3 and 4 along with their Sports and Karate Master Mr. Niroz. All the spectators were stunned by the jaw dropping performance by Mr. Niroz who showed his sheer strength by breaking tiles.
At the end of the day, Topaz House was pronounced the Champions of Spectrum College Inter-House Sports Meet 2017/2018. The winning House Captain Master Salim Salman received the Victory Trophy from the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony. Mr. Lalith Bandula – Colombo Zonal Director of Sports.
Spectrum College congratulate all the athletes who participated and showed their talents regardless of winning any positions or otherwise.

Spectrum College Boys’ School held its Annual Prize Giving for the academic year 2016/2017 on 18 December at the Sasakawa Hall. His Excellency Muhammad H. Shareef the Ambasador of the Republic of Maldives in Sri Lanka graced the event as the Chief Guest whilst His Excellency Hisham Abu Taha; Charge D’Affairs the Embassy of the State of Palastine being the Guest of Honour. Mr. Ziyard, the Principal of Maldives Educational and Cultural Center known as Sosun Villa along with Mr Hussain Mazin the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Maldives in Sri Lanka were also present at the ceremony as Special Guests.

Signing of MOU between Spectrum College and the Embassy of Maldives in Sri Lanka – Spectrum College takes pride in announcing that it is the only school in the country to sign a memorandum of understanding with a diplomatic mission to strengthen relationship. Spectrum is also unique in the aspect where it is the first school to offer Dhivehi language officially outside Maldives
Prize Giving & Graduation 2016
Spectrum College Boys Section in Mount Lavinia held it’s Annual Prize Giving for the Academic Year 2015/2016 on the 30 September 2016 at the College Auditorium. The Chief Guest at the event was Mrs. Khadeeja Najeeha (Minister Counsellor of the High Commission of Maldives in Sri Lanka). The occasion was honoured also by many distinguished guests who have immense experience in the field of education.

Spectrum College held its Inaugural Graduation & Awards 2015 on the 17 December 2015 at 5.pm at the Salon Tulip – Hotel Galadari, Colombo 1.The Chief Guest was the Secretary of the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Sri Lanka Mr. Bader O.E.O. Alforaih who represented His Excellency Khalaf Bu Dhhair the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Sri Lanka. Mr. Anusha Samaranayaka the National Fast Bowling Coach of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and a former National Cricketer graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour whilst Mrs. Shirani Welgampola one of the famous educationists in the country was the guest speaker of the day.
