Graduation & Prize Giving 2018

Spectrum College held its Annual Graduation & Awards for the academic year 2017/2018 at 4.00 pm. The occasion was graced by His Excellency Muhammad Zaeri Amirani (Ambassador of Iran) and His Excellency Al Sheik Jumah Hamdhan Al Hassen Al Shehhi as Joint Chief Guests. The Guest of Honour was Dr. Alan Robertson (Dean of Studies, Nawaloka College), with special invitees Ms. Ajantha (Museus College) and Mr. Faizal (Zahira College).

The event was a vibrant display of talent, featuring a welcome song by Grades 3, 4, and 5, and a welcome dance by Grade 2. A "Jaw Dropping" medley of Persian Pop Songs was performed by boys from Grades 4 through 8, while elementary students made the event colorful with their own dancing items. Chief Guest H.E. Amirani delivered an inspiring speech on unity and brotherhood, while Dr. Alan Robertson focused on building a strong future for the graduating seniors.

Maldives Day 2018

Maldives Day 2018 was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Students of all nationalities, including our Maldivian students, presented various performances exhibiting the rich culture of the Maldives. The event was expertly coordinated by the school’s Dhivehi teacher, Ms. Maryam Shazna, and served as a beautiful display of the international harmony present at Spectrum College.

Australian Kids Comedian Sean Murphy at Spectrum College

World-famous comedian Sean Murphy performed a thrilling show for students of all ages, teachers, and parents. The hilarious performance kept the audience laughing throughout. The highlight was a cultural exchange organized by Spectrumites, where students challenged Sean to traditional Sri Lankan games.

Sean actively participated in Kana Mutti (breaking the pot blindfolded), finding a hidden coin in a plate of flour, and a bun-eating contest with hands tied. Despite his fame, Sean was noted as a down-to-earth and simple human being who left a lasting impression on our school community.

Inter-House Sports Meet 2018

The meet was opened by Chairman Dr. M. Sharfraz Azad and Chief Guest Mrs. Y. Mariyadas (Colombo Zonal In-Service Advisor). Following the hoisting of flags and field events such as Shot-Putt and Javelin, track events brought intense competition between Amethyst, Emerald, and Topaz Houses. A highlight was the highly enthusiastic staff relay, won by the Topaz house teachers. Spectators also witnessed a stunning Karate display by Grade 2-4 students and their Master, Mr. Niroz, who stunned the audience with his strength in breaking tiles. Topaz House was ultimately pronounced the Champions of the meet, receiving the Victory Trophy from Mr. Lalith Bandula.

This prestigious annual prize-giving was honored by His Excellency Muhammad H. Shareef (Ambassador of Maldives) and His Excellency Hisham Abu Taha (Charge D’Affairs, Embassy of Palestine). We also welcomed Mr. Ziyard and Mr. Hussain Mazin as Special Guests, celebrating the strong ties between our institution and the international community.

Spectrum College Boys Section in Mount Lavinia held its Annual Prize Giving for the Academic Year 2015/2016. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Mrs. Khadeeja Najeeha (Minister Counsellor of the High Commission of Maldives in Sri Lanka). The ceremony was also honored by many distinguished guests with immense experience in the field of education, celebrating the academic triumphs of our students.

Historic MOU Signing: Embassy of Maldives & Spectrum College

Spectrum College takes pride in being the only school in the country to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with a diplomatic mission. This landmark agreement strengthens our relationship with the Republic of Maldives. Most significantly, Spectrum is the first school outside the Maldives to offer the Dhivehi language officially to its students.

Inaugural Graduation & Awards 2015

Our historic inaugural graduation took place at the Salon Tulip. The event was graced by Mr. Bader O.E.O. Alforaih representing the Embassy of Kuwait. Guest of Honour Mr. Anusha Samaranayaka (National Fast Bowling Coach) and Guest Speaker Mrs. Shirani Welgampola inspired our very first cohort of graduates on this monumental day.
